How I Learned These Strategies: The Reluctant Pastor
I didn’t want to be a pastor. In fact, when God first told me "I want you to be a Pastor" I said "No", and, like Jonah, I ran. In my case I "ran" into a Masters program in social work and then a Ph.D program in Counseling Psychology. My "compromise" was to become licensed and eventually ordained and serve as an Associate Pastor with pastors like the late Rev. Dr. Gardner C. Taylor. Later, I graduated from a life coaching institute.
But God has a way of finding you, don't you know! He did, and I yielded. In 2006, I planted Life Worth Living Fellowship and pastored it for 12 years, doing a variety of creative things. I then turned it over to my co-founder Pastor John Finney, as planned.
What came next was a new mission: Discover how to grow a small church today with limited resources
That question grew out of my own frustrations as a pastor. I experienced the ups and downs of my church membership, despite all our very hard work and willingness to think outside the box.
So I became an EMyth Certified Business Coach and studied internet marketing from people who built multi-million dollar coaching and training companies in the belief that the same strategies they used to attract clients to webinars, seminars, and coaching programs...could be used by churches to draw in the unchurched to events, services, and ministries.

You are getting access to expository sermons on Biblical stories (almost verse-by-verse) that make it super clear to the unchurched what is going on in the story, how it relates to them, and how God can change their life like He changed the life of the person in the story.
How do the workshops help grow my church?
The workshops are designed by me, Dr. Sheldon Nix, out of my years counseling clients and teaching psychology. They are designed to:
1) Help you make a real difference in the lives of your participants so people will begin to see that you can help them, and
2) Motivate them to come to other parts of your ministry. I explain this strategy in the training you will get.
Who is this for?
This is for Black pastors who want culturally-relevant, Biblically-faithful resources to deepen the understanding of your members and to attract the unchurched to your ministry. You MUST be willing to try some new things, but if you do, you will have our support to make it work for your context.
What kind of technology will I need?
The only real technology I strongly recommend is a widescreen inexpensive TV screen next to you while you are preaching the sermons if you don't have one already. That way, when you stream, people can see the slides (the unchurched aren't sitting or laying there with an open bible app!)
How is this different than all the other stuff out there?
It simply works. And it was designed by a Black small church pastor who knows the struggles of trying to do the 100 things a Kingdom-focused church should do with a small budget, only a few reliable leaders, and with you working a full-time other job, raising a family!
